Truly Yummy Cheese

I found myself at Whole Foods the other day, hovering around the lovely cheese department. Can I just say, cheese is good food. Yay cheese! So, there I was, snooping around, and I spied my all time favorite, heretofore only available in restaurants, cheese, Bermuda Triangle, made by Cypress Grove. OK, I lied just there, and Cherry knows it, because I’ve told her of seeing it at a local grocery once in awhile. But the difference is, at the local grocery, I would have to buy the whole long triangle of cheese, whereas at Whole Foods, they’ll slice off as much or as little as I want. At $21 a lb, I don’t want much, let me tell you. So, I bought about $7 worth of cheese, and proceeded to enjoy a lovely cheesy lunch with my friend, Pat. Coincidentally, Pat had cooked some beets that very morning, and Bermuda Triangle cheese goes SO WELL with beets. (I’ve had it at a couple of different restaurants, always with a beet salad.) Yummy.

The cheese itself is “Soft ripened and double-rinded with ash and surface ripening, the flavor is earthy yet mild; the texture becomes creamier with age. ” It is creamy on the tongue, much like a brie, but yummier than any brie I’ve had in I don’t know how long. After lunch, I brought the remaining cheese home, and then later, I had Ted and Maya taste it. They agreed, it is superior cheese, though they both admitted that it is mighty rich, so they wouldn’t want a LOT of it.

Good. More for me. 😉

J, I love Whole Foods, I’m so glad I don’t live too close to one or we’d go bankrupt! I’m a major cheese lover too, and that looks and sounds so delicious and something I’d probably gobble up in one sitting.

Mom, Ted and Maya don’t like beets either..so next time you come down, we’ll get some of the cheese, some beets, and some greens, and have a yummy salad with some french bread as well. Mmmm. Perfect lunch. (Thanks, Pat!)

I don’t think I’ve ever read anyone quite so infatuated with a cheese before. Which is sayin somethinig, cus two people on my blogroll are from Wisconsin, cheese capital of (whatever it’s the capital of).

We hardly ever get to a whole food, but I’m going to try to remember this if we’re in Portland. Bermuda Triangle. Cypress Grove.

Oooooooooooh! That sounds sooooooooooooo good!!! I love Brie, so any cheese that tastes better than Brie is something I’ve got to try! 😉

P.S. Have you ever had Brie warmed up and topped with sweet red pepper jelly? This concoction served with poppy seed crackers is just divine! Gah! Now I’m hungry! LOL!

D, I think my friend Cherry would agree with you, as Humboldt Fog is her VERY favorite. I love it, but I love the Bermuda Triangle even more. 🙂
