We awoke early this morning to a rare event in Northern California…a thunder and lightning storm!  Our summer weather usually consists of some hot days, and some days when the coastal fog comes in far enough to cool us off.  This is what happens when you have some of each…reminds me of the storms we used to have in Philly.  We lived on the 16th floor of an apartment building, which was the only tall building around, so our view was a canopy of tree tops, and we could see quite far.  It was fun to watch the lightning from up high.

It was 100 degrees yesterday, and the cooler weather from Tropical Storm Linda decided to get in a bit of a fight with that hot weather.   Very cool.  So we woke up at 5:30 to a “CRASH” and a “ssssssss”, the “sssssss” being the sound of a frightened dog peeing herself.  Then the thunder started setting of car alarms.  Then the dog went in the other room and peed and pooped in her fear.  So we got up, got out the carpet cleaner, and cleaned (Ted cleaned, to give full credit where it is due).  Watched the lightning.  Listened to the bit of rain that came with it.  And then went back to bed.

Did your day start of that dramatically?

We also live in Northern California and yesterday afternoon our AC went out. Why does everything always break on a Friday afternoon when anyone who could help are busy on big jogs? It was 87 when we finally went to bed and felt stifling with only small fans.

Just before the repairman showed up we heard the joyous and unfamiliar sound of raindrops. We watched the lightning, walked in the rain and basked in the cool. The problem was just a bad breaker switch. The dogs didn’t pee or poop, but they looked at us weirdly.

So yes, it was a pretty dramatic start but we didn’t go back to bed.

    Pretty!
I have been having off and on insomnia so I was actually already awake when the fun began. Yesterday was just a weird weather day. Eric loved it… reminded him of home.

We woke up a bit later and the thunder had reach us. Whacky weather for sure. I’m sorry about poor Gen. Poor thing can’t look at your faces to see if everything is ok. Ted is the MAN!!! xoxo

Oh, yeah. It freaked our Edie girl out. But I loved it. I lay in bed listening to the rain and the rolling thunder, enjoying the humid night air and knowing how happy all the plants in our yard were, and loved knowing all the greenery was going to be that much more lush.

And our little black girl dog was over it by next morning.
