Vacation

It’s 7:15 on Monday morning, and Ted and Maya are still asleep. But my body thinks it’s after 10:00, and can’t sleep anymore. Besides, there’s a woman outside in the common area of our condo with a really loud, weird laugh. 🙂

We arrived in Honolulu at about 11:30 yesterday morning, and within a few hours we:

  • Rode in a limo (same price as a taxi, so why not?)
  • Ate mahi-mahi for lunch (Maya had a cheese quesadilla, Ted had an Ahi wrap)
  • Swam in the ocean (forgot to put on sunscreen, so it was a short visit to the beach. Don’t worry, I’ll be smarter today.)
  • Relaxed in the hot tub
  • Paid $4.67 for a quart of milk, and $1.67 for a yoplait. Don’t let anyone tell you Waikiki isn’t expensive.
  • Discovered that our hotel has free wi-fi. But wordpress is totally wonky, it took 25 minutes for this page to load, so I can post. I may not post again during vacation.

There’s something about floating on your back, feeling the waves bob you up and down in the ocean, that is completely unrelated to swimming in a pool. It’s like you can feel the Earth turning on its axis beneath you, and you feel more connected to everything than you have before. It’s very therapeutic, and pretty much just what the doctor ordered. The only bad part is that I find myself thinking that I want to tell my mom about it. So, actually, I did. I talked to her a bit, in my head, floating in the ocean, telling her how nice and warm the water was, and how I wish she could be there, too. It felt good.

When we get home, I’ll show you a picture of Maya’s puka shell elephant. ‘Till then bloggy buddies, Aloha.

Enjoy every bit of your vacation! It sounds wonderful, and I’m glad you had a nice chat with your Mom. 🙂

    Love and hugs,
    Tracy

P.S. Cherry and I had lunch today with our hubbies in LA!

    YAY for Vacation!
Hope you are having a wonderfully relaxing time and enjoying every moment.

I like your description of the world rotating under you and feeling more connected. That does sound like just the thing you need.

BTW – please wear sunscreen and reapply! I darned a bikini for the first time in years this weekend and didn’t reapply like I know I should! Sure a little nap in the warm sun with a light breeze to cool you is nice, but the BURN… not so much!

You sound very much more like yourself already. Relaxed, happier, calmer, very much “in tune” as you described. I can sense some acceptance and release. Enjoy Hawaii for me…I’ve always wanted to go and haven’t yet had the chance.

I hope you are really enjoying your vacation – you’ve earned it!

Great that you are ‘talking’ to your mom – completely healing.

    Enjoy.

Sound great. I’d love to hear more about your vacation but maybe wordpress is sending you a sign not to post. I love to float in the ocean. Unfortunately after my ear surgery it makes me sea sick. My uncle says he talks to his mom (my grandmother) everyday. She passed away in 1994. If I had not known both these people I would think it’s crazy but I don’t.
    Have fun!
